Historically a successful beef ranch that later expanded to 90.000 acres of reserve due to colonial hunters and serious decline in wildlife populations. This is now known as Ol Pejeta, a conservancy that uses agriculture and tourism to create surpluses solely for the reinvestment in conservation and community development. This is the largest black rhino sanctuary in East Africa and home to the world’s last remaining Northern White Rhino. It is also the only sanctuary for chimpanzees in Kenya and a safe haven for animals rescued from the black market. With some of the highest predator, densities in Kenya a successful livestock programme managed and the education of its people focuses on a means of transferring conservation knowledge on for generations.
